Decision Day

     As we were working with "Indesign" and "Premire Pro" in class it's reasonable to see that these two softwares are important when it comes to making a film and creating a magazine. When we were experimenting with them I noticed how advanced the entire format of the two softwares are. In Premire Pro it shows a lot of aspects when it comes to making a film. They have many different tools to use to put your film together. One tool I remember specifically was the razor tool. I learned that this tool helps you cut unwanted pieces of your video out in order to combine the parts of the video that you want to put into place. This software is crucial when it comes to making a film, you can add titles and add background effects after you import a video in. To me, this software seemed easier to use than Indesign. This is because most of the things you see on Premire Pro is self explanatory. In a way it's still hard to manage when you first look at it because you see a lot of tools that you are unfamiliar with and it seems like a lot to take in at once. Both of these softwares show many different things but yet are very important when it comes to project making. When choosing what decision to make between a film or magazine in the article "Survival of the fittest..." the author explains how in magazines in order to reach the crowd and gain attention is to decide on the fonts and design that is used. They show how they chose which designs to do based on the audience who likes to read. This is important to understand because when choosing this you have to try and make it something someone would want to read. Another example from this same article states "...literary magazine exists for a specialized audience, mainly writers who are interested and eager to read...". This can help when working with Indesign so when you have this message in your head so you pick a topic you think people would be interested in. The other article "Our Place in the Universe..." this article shows about why storytelling is important. The author in this article states that "The Four Cs of critical thinking, communication, collaboration and creativity go hand in hand with story telling projects in the classroom." This is crucial when making a film because without having a story to tell you can't document a film. After reading the articles and watching the videos of the softwares in class I am still leaning toward the magazines because I feel that there's more ideas to chose from.
